2013 Flashback, 2014 Engage

It's already 2014! Belated Happy New Year to all our friends, fans, associates and clients. 2013 flew by so fast that we still feel left behind in that year due to time dilation from FTL travel! We thought to post our New Year message earlier on 1 January with a few photo highlights of 2013 but scouring through thousands of photos took longer than expected with so much more to show and tell than we thought. 2013 was really a breakthrough year for Outpost with numerous projects keeping our small crew intensely busy. Here's our brief pictorial flashback of 2013 starting with cosplaying and costuming:

Dressing wizards and witches from Oz.

Equipping G.I. Joes for the official launch of TGV IMAX 1 Utama.

Supporting the launch of GSC CityOne Mall, Kuching.

Plus another trip to Kuching for retailer launch in Boulevard Mall with sci-fi performances.

Taking comic book inspired heroes on roadshow nationwide.

Drenching a school girl in blood.

Bringing more wizards and witches to HITB Security Conference.

Gathering adventurers from Middle-Earth and Asgard at Comic Fiesta.
2013 was also busy year taking movie mascots on meet & greet sessions nationwide:

The Smurfs returned, now dressed for Raya.

We turned zookeepers for a lion and 3 penguins from Madagascar.

Showcased dancing Bananas in Pyjamas from Down Under.

Walked a "live" dinosaur in Klang Valley malls.

For fan engagements, fans of both Star Trek and Star Wars were given exciting missions:

Trekkies beamed aboard the Enterprise at Star Trek  The Exhibition.

Gathering Starfleet officers for Star Trek Into Darkness.

Jedi, Rebels & Imperials launching the Death Star at LEGOLAND Malaysia.

Superheroes bringing smiles to children at KL Hospital.

Cosplay volunteers at charity fair in Taman Megah.

While we weren't involved in many official NERF events for 2013, it was a big year for kids birthday parties hosting NERF games:

NERF face-off between Cobra and G.I. Joe.

NERF promo and community activities at Tropicana City Mall.

Kids NERF parties were in-trend for 2013.
For services, our production team scratch-built a handful of costumes and props:

Custom-made mascot for Irwan robot (right) of Bola Kampung The Movie.
Wearable sci-fi exoskeleton props.

Movie-inspired hammer prop launcher.

Medieval cosplay prop fabrication.

Iron Man memorabilia display at 1st Avenue Mall, Penang.

Finally we took to the leap to be officially part of Comic Fiesta as a premium artbooth exhibitor and also took opportunity to rebrand as Outpost Productions:

Leading up to Comic Fiesta, we unveiled a series of online videos titled Cosplay Fight Club matching cosplay characters from popular culture and soliciting viewers to vote for their chosen winners. The results were unveiled at Comic Fiesta weekend and uploaded online:

Whew, we barely had time to take a leak!

Now into 2014, Outpost Productions looks forward to a greater year of out-of-this-world engagements delighting movie fans and cosplay enthusiasts plus managed "busy-ness" delivering projects for our valued clients. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year indeed!

Season's Greetings from Outpost Productions

Season's Greetings and Happy Holidays to all our fans and followers.

We also take this opportunity to relabel our branding to Outpost Productions (from Outpost Events & Services) to better reflect our current range of services on costuming & props, marketing support, and mascot engagement. Unfortunately our online social media channels will have to remain as Outpost Toys, Events & Services for Facebook and MySciFiFanOutpost as we are unable to rename these. Plus OutpostHoloNet on Twitter.

Outpost Productions officially setup a Premium Artbooth at Comic Fiesta 2013. Malaysia's largest ACG convention over last weekend 21-22 December took over the entire KLCC Convention Centre with tens of thousands of visitors and flocks of cosplayers. It was a busy 2-days as we caught up with many long time friend and associates as well as showcase some of our stuff to the local cosplay scene. Our crew did not have much time away to explore more of Comic Fiesta, so most of our photos below are limited around our immediate booth area.

Our first visitor for the day may not have been especially good "feng shui".

One of our custom-made costume props inspired from the movie Elysium.

Loki, God of Mischief sets up his shrine at our booth.

Captain Hook and Peter Fan get ready to set sail.

The friendly neighboorhood Spider-man swings by with Klingon Warrior N'Gel.

Batman and Wolverine cosplay from our associate, Movie Mania SG.

Asgardians Thor and Loki recruiting worshipers for the Battle of Asgard Live-Action Role Play (LARP) sessions.

Tactical cosplay as our Clone Trooper teams up with a "Praying Mantis" PMC.

Continuing the journey to the Lonely Mountain, Thorin, Bilbo and Gandalf are joined by Bard and Thranduil.

Cobra Commander with his minion.

Deadpool Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. shows his credentials.

Other than costuming & props, we also had a free stuff to giveaway and unveiled the outcome of our #CosplayFightClub series of online videos where viewers voted for winners of fight matchups between pop culture characters. Check out the results here:

Spidey poses for our Magic Hammer prop giveaway with Loki giving "encouragement".

Crowds gather for our free stuff. Toys and posters given away just by answering a few simple trivia questions.

Happy giveaway winner.

Congratulations to Zymz, winner of our Helmet prop giveway to cosplayers.
Our long time supporter comes wearing a MySciFiFan tshirt which dates back almost 10 years ago.

Here are a few other cosplay photos caught on our camera:

Thor and Loki solicit for their followers.

Captain Hook wants to hammer Tinkerbell (held by Peter Pan).

Klingon N'Gel has issues with Pokemon, worst than Tribbles!

Spider-man and Wolverine team-up for photos.

Clone Trooper reporting for duty.

Klingon ready for battle... "Today is a good day to die!"

Every fan seems to be wishing Gandalf "You Shall Not Pass!"

Asgardians take the Biforst to Middle-Earth... "these are not the followers you are looking for"

Loki gives product placements.

Loki's illusions present female versions of himself and Thor.

Kneel before Loki!

Loki's no. 1 worshipper!

Loki having a bad day.
Time to party!

Plenty more photos online from Comic Fiesta that we can't take credit for. Just search on Google, Facebook or YouTube for other epic (and strange) cosplays seen last weekend... like the Gundam cosplayer and the huge Mortal Kombat group cosplay!
